2005 Chevrolet Cobalt
Background, pricing, features, and specifications for the Chevrolet Cobalt coupe and sedan.
Chevrolet, more commonly known as 'Chevy,' was co-founded by Louis Chevrolet, and William Durant, who was a previous GM employee. Chevrolet quickly became a leader of American muscle cars, and was the top auto producer through-out the 60's. Today, Chevy is a division of General Motors, and is known for big trucks and powerful sport cars. The Chevrolet Cobalt was introduced in 2004 for the 2005 model year as Chevy's new 'small car,' and comes as both a coupe and sedan. Both models have sportier styling, and a cuter, bubblier appearance than its predecessor, the Cavalier, www.drivewire.com.
Chevrolet claims the Cobalt is the quietest, strongest, and most refined small car it has ever built, and that the Cobalt was designed to be a premium compact car to complement the new Chevrolet Aveo. It's built on the GM Delta platform but has the Chevy single-bar grille and bowtie emblem; the SS features a spoiler. Cobalt is heavier, longer, lower, and wider than a lot of the cars in its class, and has a 2.2 liter, 145 horsepower engine.
Notable Features:
- Heated leather seats
- XM Satellite Radio
- MP3
- On-Star
- 60/40 split fold down rear seat
- Power steering
The Chevrolet Cobalt coupe and sedan start at $14, 490.
