Features, pricing, and specifications for the 2005 Isuzu Ascender SUV 5- and 7-passenger models. Discusses standard (S), LS, and Limited trims.
Isuzu's newest SUV, the Ascender, is not entirely built by the Japanese automaker. The Ascender shares its platform with Chevrolet's Trailblazer and GMC's Envoy. Minor exterior and interior styling elements have been added in order to differentiate them from their cousins. It can be ordered in two body styles, the 5-passenger or the extended wheelbase 7-passenger. Trim levels start from the standard S model, midrange LS, to the top-of-the-line Limited. They are all available in rear or 4-wheel drive.
The Ascender is the most powerful SUV offered by Isuzu, the standard engine is the GM-built, 4.2-liter 275-horsepower, In-line 6. A 5.3-liter, 300-horsepower V8 borrowed from GM is also available and has a towing capacity of 6,200lbs.
Base MSRP for the 2005 5-passenger Isuzu Ascender S 2-wheel drive start at $25,959 to $36,785 for the Limited 4-wheel rive.
The LS has the same features as the 5-passenger except for its 7-passenger seating capacity.
