2005 Land Rover LR3
Background information, features, pricing, and specifications for the 2005 Land Rover LR3 midsize sport utility vehicle.
Land Rover is known throughout the auto industry for pairing luxury with off-road capabilities. Once designed specifically for the rough British terrain, Land Rover models are now sold throughout the world. The Land Rover line is currently an extension of the Ford Motor Company.
According to those at Car and Driver, www.caranddriver.com, the LR3 is the first model to be produced under Ford's direction, which is evident in the styling and design of the model. Under the hood is a Jaguar-built engine. (Jaguar is also owned by Ford.) While the LR3's front grill maintains true Land Rover styling, the back end is clearly influenced by Ford's other SUVs, such as the Explorer.
Those at Edmunds, www.edmunds.com, are impressed with the advanced suspension system, exquisite interior, and V8 engine. The list of cons listed by the professionals at Edmunds is fairly limited with only the excessive weight that hurts its performance abilities and the complicated audio and control interface. Even with those slight problems, those at Edmunds consider it one of the best midsize SUVs on the market.
Notable Features:
- 4.0 liter V6 engine with 216 horsepower or 4.4 liter V8 engine with 300 horsepower
