2005 Lotus Elise
Background information, features, pricing, and specifications for the 2005 Lotus Elise sports car.
Lotus, first started by Colin Chapman, has become world renown for its high-performance sports cars. Many of today's models maintain Chapman's vision of what a sports line should be. Lotus competes against other car manufacturers, such as Porsche, Lamborghini, and Ferrari.
Lotus is able to maintain control over the quality of its vehicles by limiting overall production. One of the few models in production is the Elise. According to those at Car and Driver, www.caranddriver.com, the current model of the Elise now available in the U.S. has actually be available in Europe since 1995. This lightweight sports car has aggressive body styling. It sits as low as some Lamborghinis and Ferraris.
Kevin Smith of Motor Trend, www.motortrend.com, reports that some of the Elise's strengths are the quality of the materials, accuracy of the assembly, and supreme maneuverability. One of the downfalls is the limited cabin space, which is understandable when one considers the size of the car. Overall, Smith believes it will live up to the high standards of other previous Elise models.
