2006 Ford Explorer XLS, XLT, Eddie Bauer, and Limited

For the past fourteen years, the mid-size Ford Explorer has been the auto industry's best-selling SUV, making it one of their most successful vehicles ever. It was the standard for which other automakers based their own designs, and still do today. The redesigned 2006 Explorer undergoes a few cosmetic changes with more powerful engines.
Four models are available: XLS, XLT, Eddie Bauer, and Limited. The standard 4.0-liter V6 from last year is still available, but has been updated to deliver cleaner emissions. The all-new engine is a 4.6-liter V8 that generates 292-horsepower and is LEVII compliant in California as well as being EPA Tier 2 Bin 5 compliant in all of the other states. 4-wheel drive models get Ford's ControlTrac system with automatic, high, or low settings. The interior has also been updated with generous seven passenger seating and increased room.
Base MSRP for the Ford Escape XLS 2WD V6 starts at $26,530 to $35,940 for the Limited 4WD V8.
