A brief background, specifications, and standard features for the 2006 Toyota Tundra. The standard features for all trim levels-base, SR5, and Limited-are discussed in this article.

The Tundra is Toyota's full-size truck, and made its appearance on the market in 2000. It is available in regular, extended cab (Access Cab), and Crew-cab (Double Cab) versions. The regular cabs come only in long beds, while the access and double cabs come only in short beds. For the access cab a reverse-opening rear door allows the rear passengers entry; the double cab has 4 full-size doors.

Two engines are available for the Tundra: 4.0-liter V6 and 4.7-liter V8. The V6 offers 236 hp with 266 ft-lb of torque, and the V8 boasts 271 hp with 313 lb-ft of torque. In addition, the V6 comes with a 6-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic; the V8 comes equipped with only a five-speed automatic. Either engine can have four-wheel drive. It has a maximum towing capacity of 7,100 lbs.

Base MSRP for the Tundra starts at $16,720 for the base and goes up to $34,140 for the limited Double Cab
