A Guide to Inspecting and Refilling Your Car or Truck's Washer Fluid
Your car or truck's washer fluid increases visibility and, ultimately, safety. It's also quite easy to inspect and refill.
To the relief of many, refilling your washer fluid is quite simple. Washer fluid cleans your windshield, increasing visibility and, in turn, safety.
Checking and Refilling Your Washer Fluid:
- Pop the hood and locate (or refer to the owner's manual to locate) your washer solven reservoir.
- Check to ensure there is enough washer fluid in the reservoir. You can typically do this without opening the cap. Most cars imprint a fill-line on the reservoir. Should your fluid be low, remove the cap and add more.
- Always add washer fluid, not water, to the reservoir, as plain water could grow algae or leave mineral deposits. Water also freezes in cold weather whereas special washer fluids do not.
