Lamborghini is world renowned for producing cars with aggressive exteriors and intense engines. Some of the more recent models available in this luxury sports car line are the Gallardo and Murcielago.
Established in 1963 by Ferruccio Lamborghini, Lamborghini has become world renowned for its high-performance luxury sports cars. Those at Lamborghini, www.lamborghini.com, write that this company started as the vision of an Italian farmer's son who was born in a small village. His car line was actually an extension of his established tractor company, Lamborghini Trattori SpA, which he began after WWII.
Over the years, Lamborghini has developed a dedicated following that rivals its other competitors such as Ferrari, Porsche, and Aston Martin. Many consider Lamborghinis to be masterpieces of engineering. Some of the most recent models in production include the Gallardo and Murcielago.
The Gallardo:
Lamborghinis are known for their aggressive power and equally aggressive exteriors. The Gallardo maintains this tradition. Powering this fierce car is a 10 cylinder, V 90 degree, DOHC 4-valve, 18 degree crankpin offset engine, giving it an overwhelming 493 horsepower. Aaron Gold at About.com, cars.about.com, reports that the professionals at Architectural Digest say that the Lamborghini Gallardo is the marriage of necessity and beauty. Chris Walton and Winston Goodfellow of Motor Trend, www.motortrend.com, writes that the Gallardo is the Murcielago's little brother. Despite being in the shadow of the Murcielago, the Gallardo does deliver. They say that the redline upshifts are able to keep up.
The Murcielago:
The Gallardo and Murcielago look very similar. The difference between them isn't on the surface, however, but under the hood. The Murcielago's intense 580 horsepower is produced by a 12 cylinder V 60 degree engine. As with the Gallardo, the Murcielago coupe only comes in 6-speed manual transmission. If a 6-speed automatic overdrive transmission is needed, the Murcielago roadster may be the answer. John Phillips and Aaron Kiley write that the Murcielago is so smooth and silent when idling that the driver might think it has stalled.
